The Queen Elizabeth National Park (QENP) is located in Uganda’s Western Region, encompassing the districts of Kasese, Kamwenge, Rubirizi, and Rukungiri. The park is located about 400 kilometers (250 miles) south of Kampala, Uganda’s capital and largest city. The city of Kasese is located to the northeast of the park, while Rubirizi is located to the southeast. [Citation required] To the east, the park borders the Kyambura Game Reserve, which borders the Kigezi Game Reserve (including the Maramagambo Forest) and thus the Kibale National Park to the northeast. The Democratic Republic of the Congo’s Virunga National Park is located across the border to the west. These protected areas completely encircle Lake Edward. Uganda’s Rwenzori Mountains National Park is not far away.
