The 11-day Gorillas and Chimpanzees Wildlife Safari Uganda itinerary combines all of Uganda’s top National Park adventures, including Murchison Falls National Park for the big five experience, Queen Elizabeth National Park for chimps and wildlife, Bwindi Impenetrable National Park for mountain Gorillas trekking adventure, Lake Mburo National Park for more wildlife appreciation, and Lake Bunyonyi for refreshment and relaxation moments. This adventure package is available all year and accommodates all of our valued guests’ budgets. On this 11-day Gorilla and Chimpanzee wildlife safari, you will visit Uganda’s top National Parks for the big five, including Rhinos, Lions, Elephants, Buffalos, and Leopards, as well as other wildlife and bird species in Murchison Falls and Queen Elizabeth, as well as the primates’ worlds of Kibale Forest and Bwindi Impenetrable Forest for chimps and gorillas, respectively.
DAY 1 Arrival in Kampala or Entebbe and transfer to your hotel
Upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you will be met by your safari guide, who will then transfer you to your hotel for a briefing about your 11-day stay with us, followed by dinner and an overnight stay.

DAY 2 Transfer to Murchison Falls via Ziwa Rhinos Sanctuary
After an early breakfast, board the transfer for the 6 or 7-hour drive to Murchison Falls National Park. Along the way, take a detour to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary, which is home to white rhinos, and stay for a maximum of 3 hours on our guided walk through the sanctuary in search of Rhinos. We’ll stop for lunch at Kabalega Dinners before heading to Murchison Falls National Park, which is home to 451 bird species and 76 mammal species and covers an area of 3,840 square kilometers, making it Uganda’s largest national park. After arriving, unwind at the lodge with a delicious dinner and an overnight stay.

DAY 3 Nile River boat cruises and game drives
After a cup of coffee or tea, take a game drive through the park around the Nyamisika plateau, where you will see many early risers such as Rothschild Giraffes, leopards, lions, buffaloes, Uganda Kobs, waterbucks, warthogs, bushbucks, and African Elephants, among others. Return to the lodge for lunch and refreshments as you prepare for the afternoon launch cruise along the Nile. The flow of the Victoria Nile divides the park into southern and northern banks. On the boat, you will see Hippos, Nile Crocodiles, and various water bird species such as the Pelican, Goliath Heroin, ibis, shadowed bill stock, Kingfishers, and the rare shoebill.
You will disembark the boat at the bottom of the magnificent falls, a few meters from the Devil’s Cauldron, and proceed with the hike to the top of the fall, where you will enjoy the thunderous roars of the magnificent falls as they make their way through a 7m narrow gorge and fall at 43m into the Victoria Nile. You can spend some time there admiring the permanent rainbows that have formed in the clouds of sprinkling waters. Meet your safari guide later for the transfer to the lodge. Take advantage of the dinner and overnight stay.

DAY 4 Transfer to the Queen Elizabeth Park
Today, after breakfast, take another long drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park via Fort Portal town, with a lunch stopover. Then continue your journey through the beautiful scenery of the Rwenzori mountain ranges. Queen Elizabeth National Park is home to over 600 bird species, as well as a variety of wildlife species such as African elephants, lions, waterbucks, warthogs, Cape buffaloes, and many more. When you arrive at Queen National Park, take a short drive to your lodge for refreshments, dinner, and an overnight stay.

DAY 5 Launch cruise and game drive National Park of Queen Elizabeth
After breakfast, go on a morning game drive in search of wildlife such as lions, waterbucks, cape buffaloes, leopards, forest hogs, topis, African elephants, warthogs, antelopes, and others. Transfer back to the lodge, freshen up, and eat lunch before embarking on a 2-hour launch cruise on the Kazinga channel, a 42-kilometer stream that connects Lakes Edward and George. While on the boat, look for large schools of hippos and Nile crocodiles, as well as other wildlife and water bird species.

DAY 6 Chimpanzee tracking in the Kalinzu sector, followed by a transfer to the Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.
After breakfast, drive to the Kalinzu Forest, which is still part of the Queen Elizabeth National Park, for Chimpanzee tracking, and then to the Ishasha sector for the tree climbing lions expedition. Continue your journey to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park by passing through stunning fold-like terraced highlands known as The Switzerland of Africa. We’ll stop for lunch along the way before arriving at the lodge for dinner and overnight.

DAY 7 Gorilla trekking day in Bwindi impenetrable National Park
Today, wake up very early in the morning and have breakfast, then after embark on a short drive to the visitors’ center of the park where you will meet experienced rangers guides who will take you through a briefing about the dos and don’ts during the gorilla trekking adventure. After that you will start the hike in the mist dense forest to look for the gentle giants, it normally takes from 2 hour to 8 hours of trekking hence requires the trackers to be physically fit since over 7,500 ft steep altitude awaits you to maneuver through. It is recommended that you bring plenty of water, a picnic packed lunch, sun glasses, hats, rain coats, a water proof jacket, long sleeved shirts and trousers, and cameras without flashes. “What felt like tiresomeness during the hike will cease to exist as you will have a great time enjoying the mountain gorillas in this mist dense forest and 1 full hour is permitted to stay closer to them.” Return to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

DAY 8 Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi with Canoe Ride
After a leisurely breakfast, drive to Lake Bunyonyi, Africa’s second deepest lake and famous for its numerical islands and stunning views doubled with rolling terraced hills along the shores and 29 islands in water, the water here is safe for swimming because it is Bilharzia and crocodile free. Bunyonyi, which means “a lot of young birds” in the local language, provides an opportunity for the best bird watching adventure in Uganda. You could go canoeing on the lake upon arrival, followed by lunch at the lodge and some relaxationAfter lunch, go for a community walk around the area where you can watch traditional Bakiga dances and buy souvenirs.

DAY 9 Transfer to Lake Mburo and Game Drive in the Evening
Breakfast in the morning and transfer to Lake Mburo Mburo national park, one of the smallest with the greatest concentration of wildlife species, covers 371 square kilometers. Zebras, antelopes, buffalos, elands, giraffes, warthogs, reed bucks, oribis, and a variety of bird species can be found in Lake Mburo National Park. Along the way, you will be able to see the rolling terraced hills of the Kigezi region, with a lunch stop in Mbarara town – the land of milk and honey. Continue your journey until you reach the park in the late afternoon. Take a 2-hour boat ride on the lake, followed by dinner and an overnight stay at the lodge. DAY 10 Breakfast in the early morning and transfer to Kampala.
After breakfast, go on a morning game drive through Lake Mburo National Park, where you can feed your eyes as you spot amazing wildlife and bird species among the scenic savannah grasslands. After the game drive, depart from the park, stopping for lunch along the way and at the Equator to take photographs and buy souvenirs.

DAY 11 Tour of Kampala and transfer to Entebbe International Airport
After a leisurely breakfast, depart for a city tour of Kampala, including stops at the Uganda Museum, the Martyrs’ Shrine, the King’s Palace, and art and craft shops to purchase souvenirs to remember your 11-day adventure safari in Uganda. After the tour, your safari guide will transport you to Entebbe Airport for your flight back home as you bid Uganda farewell.
